The hand-woven fabric from the Suntree Thai Weaving Center is 100%cotton, handmade by the Loas-Phuan tribe, who moved from the south of Loung Prabang (Loas) to Had Sieo Village, Si-satchanalai District, Sukhothai (Thailand) at the time of the King-Rama 3 of Chakri Dynasty (approx.1830 A.D.). After the moved to Thailand, the tribe was called "Thai-Phuan".

The Thai-Phuan tribe make the fabric in many different style, for use in daily life and for special occasions. One of the styles,"Tin chok", Employs a special technique that incorporates various colored threads into an individual pattern. Now, with Tin Chok, we can create some of the most beautiful products, including : shirts, pants, blouses, table runner, pillow cases, handbags and more!

Every piece of hand-woven Tin Chok is a unique work of art. Made by the hands of rural Thai Phuan women, if for carries and imprints of the character, emotions, spirit and life of the weaver.

The Thai Phuan at Had Sieo Village, Si-satchanalai District, Sukhothai Province, weave their Tin Chok with the right side facing up which is unusual as in most other areas the weaving is done in the reverse.

Even with modern technology, the beauty of Tin Chok cannot be replicated. Tin Chok remains a timeless expression of a craftsman's skill. From reeling the cotton, to dying the fabric, to using a porcupine quill to pick out the threads, nothing can replace the sure eyes and hands of the experienced craftsman in revealing the luminous beauty of genuine Tin Chok.
